Doppler Screening at 23 weeks

Fetal Medicine Unit - 0191 2825837

IntroductionShow [+]Hide [-]

This information explains about the additional scan that has been arranged for you following the complications that occurred in your previous pregnancy.

About the scanShow [+]Hide [-]

This scan is very similar to the routine 20 week scan. On this occasion, we will be measuring the blood flow to the placenta and also the blood flowing through the umbilical cord from the placenta to the baby. This gives us information about the baby’s growth and may help to predict the function of the placenta.

This is an abdominal scan, carried out in the Fetal Medicine Unit (FMU) on the second floor of the Leazes Wing.

Things you need to knowShow [+]Hide [-]
