Ward 34 is the antenatal ward located on our Maternity Unit. We care for women here who develop complications during pregnancy and need specialist care which can be provided by our doctors and midwives.

Ward 34 is on level two of the Leazes wing at the RVI.
- Take the lift or stairs behind Main Reception to level two.
- The Maternity Reception desk is the first desk you will see.
- From here you will be directed to the ward.
How to get to the hospital
Staff you are likely to meet
Midwives and health care assistants care for the women on the antenatal ward. You will be seen daily by a consultant or a member of their team. You may receive regular scans or monitoring, have regular blood pressure or other tests to monitor your condition
Things you need to know
- Please remember that security is extremely important on our Maternity Unit. Doors are always locked and all visitors must press the intercom and speak to a member of staff to access the wards.
- Partners and your own children may visit from 8am until 8pm and there is a rest period from 12noon until 2pm when all visitors are asked to leave the ward.
- Please ask all other visitors to come between 2pm and 3.30pm and 6pm to 7.30 pm.
- Do remember – only three visitors are allowed at the bedside at any one time. There is a waiting area at maternity reception between visits.
- Please make sure that only your own children visit. Other children aged ten years and younger will not be allowed onto the ward.
