Neurosciences
About Us
The Regional Neurosciences Centre is one of the top regional units in the UK, providing a comprehensive range of specialist tests, treatments and procedures for all types of neurological conditions involving the brain and nervous system. These include brain tumours, epilepsy, head injuries, multiple sclerosis, stroke and conditions affecting the spine and spinal cord.
The Centre is made up of four departments: Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology and Neurophysiology. Each one is led by highly experienced clinicians specialising in different areas of neurosciences, and supported by teams of nurses, radiographers, neurophysiology technicians and other healthcare professionals to provide a safe and caring high quality service to all those who need it.
Our New Facilities
The transfer of this major treatment centre from Newcastle General Hospital to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in the Autumn of 2010 means that our highly specialised field of clinical expertise is now housed in superb facilities fit for the 21st century.
With direct access to the most advanced and powerful scanning and treatment techniques available today, all our inpatient facilities have also been greatly improved - for example, at least 50% of all bedrooms now allow single occupancy with en suite facilities.
