What do we do?
Our neurophysiology team is a highly specialist regional service providing electrical studies of the central nervous system and peripheral nerves and muscles.
You can be referred here by your hospital consultant, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, paediatricians (who specialise in looking after children), psychiatrists (adult and paediatric), neuro rehabilitation services, learning difficulty specialists (adult and paedicatric), orthopaedic surgeons and rheumatologists.
Our specialist services
In the neurophysiology department we carry out a variety of different tests, depending on the symptoms being assessed, to help diagnose your condition and determine the best path of treatment. These specialist investigative techniques include the following:
- Electroencephalography (EEG)
- Videotelemetry EEG
- Ambulatory EEG
- Evoked potentials (EP)
- Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
- Electromyography (EMG)
- Carpal Tunnel Study (CTS)

Our wards and clinics
The Neurophysiology Clinic is run by our highly trained neurophysiology team. You can be referred here by your hospital consultant, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, paediatricians (who specialise in looking after children), orthopaedic surgeons and rheumatologists.
