Eye Clinic Liaison Service

Contact: (0191) 282 0221 - Christine Bound and Sally Baylis, Eye Clinic Liaison Officers

Our Eye Clinic Liaison Officers, Christine Bound and Sally Baylis, are here to help you get the care and support you need as soon as you have been diagnosed with a condition affecting your vision.

Losing all or part of your sight can affect you emotionally as well as physically.  Christine and Sally act as a “bridge” between our eye specialists and a range of organisations, such as social services, that can provide you with a wealth of information about what help is available to you, both locally and nationally.

Our liaison service is available to patients of all ages, and their relatives, no matter where you live in the North East. We run clinics in seven other hospitals across the region, so you don’t have travel long distances to be seen.

Although most people are referred to our service by consultants and other hospital staff, you can be referred by your GP or community nurse and increasingly, people refer themselves.  You, your relatives and carers are welcome to call in to see one of our team without an appointment, although we do advise you phone first to check availability.

The Eye Clinic Liaison Service is based in the Eye Department, Claremont Wing at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Our Eye Clinic Liaison Officers are available on the following days and times:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00am until 4:00pm
  • Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00am until 5:00pm
