Ward 37 (also known as the Burns Unit) is an adult ward which provides care for men and women requiring reconstructive surgery and other types of treatment for injuries resulting from burns.

There are single and double cubicles on this ward which all have en suite facilities.  Single cubicles are usually for patients who have extensive burns and require special monitoring and nursing care.

The Burns Unit is a securely locked ward to ensure patient safety and privacy.  Please use the intercom system at the entrance so that a member of staff can let you in.


How to find us

Ward 37 (Burns Unit) is based on the 3rd floor of Leazes Wing at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.  To find us:

  • Come through the Leazes Wing main entrance and walk past the main reception desk on your left.
  • Turn left, past the shop and take the lift or stairs up to the third floor. 
  • Come out the lifts or stairs and turn to your left, following the signs for Ward 37 (Burns Unit).

Things you need to know

  • The Burns Unit is a securely locked ward to ensure patient safety and privacy.  Please use the intercom system at the entrance so that a member of staff can let you in.
  •  Please don't bring fresh flowers onto the ward.  This is to help to with control of infection.
