Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Ward 47 is an adult ward which provides care for men and women requiring plastic and reconstructive surgery .
There is also a Special Care Unit on the ward for patients who have had complex surgery. This room needs to be maintained at a higher than normal temperature - this is because higher temperatures can help surgical wounds heal quickly, helping our patients feel more comfortable more quickly.

Ward 47 is based on the 3rd floor of Leazes Wing at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. To find us:
- Come through the Leazes Wing Out Patient entrance and walk past the reception desk on your right.
- Walk straight ahead until you reach the lifts or stairs and go up to the 3rd floor.
- Come out the lifts or stairs and turn to your right, following the signs for Ward 47.
Staff you are most likely to meet
The clinical team on the ward is led by Sister Aitchison and is made up of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other support staff.
