Our Private Patient service can provide the very highest standard of clinical skills and nursing care across most specialties. Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been delivering high quality private healthcare since 1995.
To maintain our standards of care Newcastle Hospitals is committed to your safety and we want to protect you from the risk of MRSA infection. Our programme involves screening clients to ensure they are free from the MRSA bacteria before being booked for admission. MRSA is a strain of bacteria which is resistant to many bacteria. People carry it harmlessly on their skin but when it gets into the body for example into a wound following surgery then it becomes difficult to treat.
If the test shows you are free of MRSA then you admission can be confirmed. If, however you are one of the small proportion of people who carry MRSA on their skin you will be given treatment to eradicate it before your admission. Although this may cause you some inconvenience it is necessary to keep MRSA out of the hospitals and keep you safe.

*The Private Patient Service works with a number of Consultant partners to bring our clients fast access to a full range of services. As a BUPA Approved Breast Care Centre we are pleased to support Northern Breast Service which is a multi disciplinary group of breast surgeons and oncologists. We have regular clinics which are supported by a dedicated private breast care nurse.
The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recognised and accredited by private medical insurers. We are also an accredited BUPA Breast Care Centre.
The Lodge – Private Outpatient Consulting Rooms
The Lodge is a dedicated outpatient consulting room facility based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. Originally built as the Porters Lodge in the early 1900’s it is a grade ll listed building which was sensitively and extensively restored and refurbished in 2009. The Lodge offers the ideal venue for private consultations.

The Park Suite - Private Inpatient suite
We welcome private patients across the Trust (Freeman Hospital, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Life). Our professional and experienced staff are on hand to offer support and advice to patients throughout their treatment and follow-up. This gives the Private Patient service the opportunity to build on its reputation for offering first class treatment with first class comfort.
The Park Suite is the Trust’s newly opened Private Patient facility at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The Park Suite is a purpose built for Private patients with the highest standard of comfort and privacy with all the rooms having en –suite facilities.
We have also reviewed our menu’s and as well as our ‘old favourites’ we have introduced some new dishes, and some ‘lighter bites’.
Please note that unfortunately for clinical reasons not all of our range of procedures are carried out at The Park Suite , and for some operations such as Cardiac and Spinal Surgery you will be admitted to a NHS ward (we try to provide a side room where possible). This is reflected in the fees charged.
