Rapid assessment and diagnosis is vital to ensuring that every patient we see gets the right treatment at the right time. This is even more critical for emergency admissions and our highly advanced and leading edge scanning facilities are well equipped to deal with any clinical scenario 24 hours a day, every day.
The major investment we have made into our scanning facilities will ensure that every single patient who comes into our care can have direct access to the very latest diagnostic and treatment planning techniques, benefiting from rapid image processing times which means less time waiting to be seen.
The new Emergency Department has its own dedicated 24 hour radiology service with access to digital plain x-ray, ultrasound and a multibeam 64-slice CT scanner which provides extremely rapid and precise imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning of complicated admissions to a Major Trauma Centre.
Should more complex imaging or intervention be required, the patient can be taken directly to the main Radiology Department with access to the full range of imaging facilities and expertise available there or the Neurovascular Suite where the advanced angiography equipment can be found.
