We provide a comprehensive acute renal failure service for the Newcastle Hospitals and also to the local hospitals located across the North Region.
We are often required to transfer patients to the Freeman Hospital so that they can receive the specialist renal care they need. We also provide a comprehensive acute renal failure service to our Critical Care Units where patients who are acutely ill are susceptible to low renal function.
The Anaemia Clinic is for patients with anaemia related to kidney failure. Specialist nurses administer treatment with intravenous iron infusions and erythropoietin injections. Regular monitoring of blood counts with appropriate adjustments to treatment helps to ensure overall wellbeing.
