Ward 30 RVI

Ward 30 is a satellite haemodialysis unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary for the treatment of adults who require haemodialysis. The unit has 18 dialysis stations and a separate bay for isolation dialysis if required.

Haemodialysis is usually performed two or three times a week, each session lasting between three and five hours. Haemodialysis is provided for outpatients and for patients who are admitted for inpatient care.

Haemodiafiltration is available for appropriate patients.

Ward 30 is in Leazes Wing at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. To find us:

  • Come through the Leazes Wing main entrance walking past the reception desk on your left and turn left when you reach the shop on your left and the café on your right.
  • Continue down this corridor and take the second turning on your left following the sign for Ward 30.

Staff you are likely to meet

The clinical team on Ward 30 consists of specialist nurses and other support staff.

There are no doctors based permanently on this ward however renal medical staff do visit twice weekly and an haemodialysis outpatient clinic is held on the ward every month.

Things you need to know

  • Please clean your hands with the alcohol gel provided on entry to and exit from the ward.
  • Haemodialysis treatment is usually required two to three times per week and each session can take three to five hours.
  • Transport can be arranged by the hospital. Please ask the ward staff for more information.
