Renal Services

Ward 4 Freeman Hospital

Ward 4 is a adult renal medical ward which cares for patients with all types of conditions affecting the kidneys.  Admissions may be planned for investigations such as a kidney biopsy or may be emergency admissions for patients requiring more complex medical care.  Patients may also be transferred for specialised investigation and treatment which cannot be provided in local hospitals.

Ward 4 is based at Freeman Hospital.   To find us:

  • Come through the Main Entrance and follow the main corridor, passing the shop and hairdressers until you reach the end.
  • Turn left and take the lift or stairs to level 3 and follow the sign for Ward 4.

Staff you are likely to meet

Ward 4 is led by Sister Margery Claxton. The clinical team consists of eight Consultant Nephrologists and a team of junior doctors, renal specialist nurses, nursing and support staff, renal dieticians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers.

Things you need to know

  • Please clean your hands with the alcohol gel provided on entry to and exit from the ward.
  • Please do not bring fresh flowers onto the ward.  These measures are to help with infection control.
