Ward 6a at Freeman Hospital is an adult transplant unit with 10 beds providing care for inpatients undergoing renal surgery. This includes kidney transplants, kidney and pancreas transplants and renal access surgery for peritoneal dialysis.
Renal replacement therapies can performed on Ward 6a including haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and plasma exchange.

Ward 6a is led by Sisters Eve Watson and Carrie Scuffell. The clinical team consists of Consultant Transplant Surgeons and Neprhologists and a team of junior doctors, renal specialist nurses, nursing and support staff, renal dieticians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers and pharmacists.
