Contraception Services

This page gives you details about the contraceptive services available from the New Croft Centre in Newcastle.

Services available

You can get in touch with us about contraceptive services including:

  • Contraceptive pills, patches, vaginal rings, injections and implants
  • Long-acting reversible contraception
  • Information about female and male sterilisation
  • Management of contraception problems
  • Free condoms and lube for men and women of all ages (condoms help protect against both pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections)
  • C card outlet (free condoms) for young people under 25 years of age
  • Emergency contraception: if you have sex without using contraception or think that your contraception might have failed, there are two types you can use. The emergency hormonal pill must be taken as soon as possible and within 72 hours (three days) after sex. An Intrauterine device (IUD) must be fitted up to five days after sex, or up to five days after the earliest time you could have ovulated (released an egg)
  • Free pregnancy testing
  • Support for unplanned pregnancy and help with pregnancy decision making
  • Specialist contraception, menopause and gynaecology clinics
