Sexual health service

New Croft Sexual Health Mobile Outreach

The Mobile Outreach Service offers home visits or visits to other suitable locations where women who can't attend the main clinic can be seen. The service is based at New Croft Sexual Health Centre in the centre of Newcastle.

The service is mainly aimed at 16-19 year olds, but we will see young people under-16 and over-19 (up to 24 years old). Patients are referred to us via a health or social care professional, or a member of the New Croft team.

Services on offer

The service offers a discussion about all methods of contraception, their benefits and drawbacks so people can make an informed choice. Our service includes:

  • fitting implants
  • contraceptive injection
  • oral contraception including patches and the vaginal ring
  • emergency contraception
  • condoms
  • 'C' Card
  • lubricant
  • pregnancy planning information and advice
  • unexpected pregnancy testing 'options' discussion and counselling
  • appointments for an IUD/IUS fit at New Croft Centre.

Once someone begins one of the above methods, we will arrange a follow-up visit to answer any queries and help ensure its effectiveness.

An STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) test can also be taken for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV. Test results are available in 7 to 10 days. If an infection is identified, the client will be encouraged to attend the New Croft Centre for treatment, further tests and partner notification.
