Sexually transmitted infections

This page gives you information about the help we can provide if you are worried about sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Our services

If you are concerned about your sexual health or would like an STI check up we can provide:

  • Sexual health examinations, including free tests, diagnosis and treatment for all STIs including chlamydia
  • Confidential support and advice if your STI tests are positive
  • One to one discussions on reducing your STI risk
  • Support on how to achieve healthy lifestyles for you and your partner(s)
  • Specialist Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) services are also available. These include:
    • Ongoing care management, treatment and support for people living with HIV (morning appointments are preferred)
    • Post exposure prophylaxis following sexual exposure (PEPSE) to HIV. This is a treatment that may prevent HIV infection after the virus has entered the body, it must be started within 72 hours (three days) after unprotected sex and preferably as soon as possible. It involves taking anti-HIV drugs for four weeks - these can have side effects and may not always prevent HIV transmission.
