Who’s who in our team?

The New Croft Centre is the main sexual health clinic for Newcastle. We also have a number of specialist teams and services based at New Croft House.

Our friendly team consists of a range of professionals:

    I qualified from the University of Oxford in 1995 and gained my training number in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the Northern Deanery in April 2000. I started the Subspecialty training programme in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in 2007 and have trained with Dr Diana Mansour in the community since then.

    I have specialised knowledge in medical gynaecology (gynaecology that does not require surgical treatment), menopause care, complicated contraception including deep implants and difficult IUD removals and genitourinary medicine for both sexes.

    I was appointed as a Consultant in Sexual Health in August 2013 and currently work at New Croft Centre in Newcastle city centre.

  • Biography

    I graduated from Liverpool University in 1981. I initially trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and undertook research in male infertility at the Harris Birthright Research Trust in Sheffield. I moved to the North East in 1989 to continue my career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 2002, I changed my career to Sexual Health. I have worked as a consultant in GUM and HIV medicine in Sunderland from 2005 and joined New Croft Sexual Health Services in 2009. My special interest in Sexual Health includes HIV medicine, complex GUM and genital dermatology. I am also interested in teaching and promoting HIV testing in primary care.

  • Biography

    Diana Mansour is a Consultant in Community Gynaecology and Reproductive Healthcare and Head of the Integrated Sexual Health Services for Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. She serves as an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Newcastle and is also a Faculty Officer and Treasurer for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health Care, UK.

    Dr Mansour obtained her medical degree in 1982 from the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff, Wales, and initially trained in general practice in South Wales. After training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and gaining her MRCOG in 1989, she became the first Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) accredited Community Gynaecologist in 1995. She was later awarded Fellowship of the RCOG in 2001 and the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in 2005 along with the Diploma of the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine in 2010.

    Dr Mansour is a member of the FSRH Clinical Effectiveness Committee, Officer for the Journal of Family Planning and Reproductive Healthcare and a member of the FIGO Menstrual Disorders Working Group (2012-).

    Her medical interests include menstrual problems, long term methods of contraception, management of the menopause and medical education. She has published over 90 scientific papers and publications on a variety of medical topics. She has contributed to a number of medical books and has served as an advisory consultant for others.

  • Biography

    I qualified in 1977 from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. After obtaining the MRCP I completed higher specialist training in Genitourinary medicine in Newcastle and was appointed as consultant GUM physician in Cumbria in 1988, and in Newcastle in 1989. I have been an honorary lecturer at the University of Newcastle since 1990.

    I have served as Northern deanery’s training programme director for genitourinary medicine and organised undergraduate teaching in genitourinary medicine.

    My special interests include HIV, complex GUM and genital dermatology. I edited the Oxford Handbook of Genitourinary medicine, HIV and Sexual Health. I also edited the genitourinary medicine section of the Oxford Book of Key Clinical Evidence. I have served as the regional chairman the Northern Branch of the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV.
