Mr Horgan provides keyhole surgery for treatment of colorectal disease, including colorectal cancer, and incisional hernia repair. He is a National Trainer in laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery and Director of the Newcastle Surgical Training Centre.
Mr Hainsworth undertakes malignant and benign colorectal surgery with a special interest in Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery, Abdominal and Pelvic Sarcoma Surgery, Anorectal Physiology and ileoanal pouch surgery.
Mr Plusa is as specialist in the field of faecal incontinence and constipation, offering advanced techniques for the treatment of these conditions in conjunction with specialist gynaecology services. He also has an interest in the treatment of colorectal and anal cancers and inflammatory bowel disease.
Mr Gallagher offers paediatric and adult laparoscopic pelvic floor surgery, an abdominal wall reconstruction service (jointly with other colleagues), a recurrent hernia laparoscopic practice. He is one of the national trainers for laparoscopic colorectal practice.
Mr Bergin is a fully accredited specialist in the fields of Colorectal Surgery, General Surgery and Lower Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He provides a patient-centred service and seeks to offer the highest quality in patient directed surgical care. His specialist interests include the treatment of colon and rectal cancer and the surgery of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He is a core member and surgical lead for the RVI inflammatory bowel disease team currently nominated for Hospital Doctor Team of the Year Awards. He teaches locally in surgical skills and both locally and nationally in care of the critically ill. He has been guest speaker in the past to patient groups including the ileostomy association and the National Association for Crohns and Colitis.
