Endoscopy Unit, Freeman Hospital

This daycase unit offers investigation and treatment for people with a wide range of conditions requiring an endoscopic procedure.
Patients can be referred to this unit by their own GP or hospital doctor for investigation.

Patients who are referred to the Freeman Hospital's Endoscopy Unit must report to the Endoscopy Unit Reception which is located on Ward 22, Level 4 at the Freeman Hospital.
If you enter Freeman Hospital via the Out Patients Entrance:
- walk straight ahead, through the Out Patient Department and at the end, turn right
- once past the Pharmacy Shop, you will see a lift or stair case on the left
- go up to level 4, when you get up to the Level 4 corridor turn left
- the Endoscopy Unit (Ward 22) Reception is situated on the right
If you enter Freeman Hospital via the Main Entrance:
- walk past the Main Reception Desk and shops to the corridor junction, then turn left to the lifts
- go up to level 4, when you get out of the lift turn right and walk along the corridor
- the Endoscopy Unit (Ward22) Reception is situated on the right towards the end of the corridor
Staff you are likely to meet
The Endoscopy Unit is led by Sister G Nicholson. The team on the unit includes nurses, health care assistants, nurse endoscopists, doctors, reception and administration staff plus other support staff.
Things you need to know
You will have been sent or given a procedure information leaflet with your appointment letter – please read this carefully and follow any instructions.
When you arrive at the hospital please report to the Endoscopy Unit Reception, Ward 22, Level 4, Freeman Hospital.
The staff in the Endoscopy Unit will explain the procedure to you and look after you before, during and after the procedure until you are ready to be collected to go home.
