Endoscopy Unit, Freeman Hospital

This daycase unit offers investigation and treatment for people with a wide range of conditions requiring an endoscopic procedure.

Patients can be referred to this unit by their own GP or hospital doctor for investigation.

The Endoscopy Unit is located on the second floor at Freeman Hospital. Patients who are referred to the Endoscopy Unit must report to the main admission desk at Freeman Hospital at arrival.   This is situated next to the main reception desk in the Main Entrance.

The Endoscopy Unit is led by Sister G Nicholson and the team on the unit include nurses, health care assistants, nurse endoscopists, doctors, and other support staff.

Things you need to know

  • When you first arrive at the hospital please report to the Admissions Desk located in the reception area from the Main Entrance to register your arrival.
  • From here you will be directed to Ward 21 (Day Treatment Centre) where you will be prepared for your procedure.
  • The staff there will explain the procedure to you and accompany you to the Endoscopy Unit. Following the procedure, you will be taken back to Ward 21 where you will stay until you are ready to go home.
  • You may bring a companion with you if you wish.
