Ward 12 Freeman Hospital

Ward 12 is the Regional Liver unit which mainly provides care for people requiring medical or surgical treatment for a large range of liver problems. We also see patients awaiting liver transplantation, and care for them through to discharge after their transplant with 3 high dependency beds for specialist care.

The ward has close links with LIVErNORTH, a North East charity dedicated to raising funds to help those with liver related conditions.

Ward 12 is based on the fifth floor at Freeman Hospital. To find us:

  • Come through the Main Entrance and follow the main corridor, passing the shop and hairdressers until you reach the end.
  • Turn left and take the lift or stairs to level 5 and follow the sign for Ward 12.

How to get to the hospital

Staff you are likely to meet

Ward 12 is led by Sister Hume and the clinical team includes surgeons, medical staff, specialist nurses, ward nurses, and other support staff.

Things you need to know

  • Please do not bring fresh flowers onto the ward. This is to help with infection control.
