Ward 8 provides acute and continuing care for patients undergoing investigations or treatment (e.g. cytotoxic chemotherapy) for haematological (blood-related) disorders.
Ward 8 houses the regional centre for bone marrow transplantation (autologous and allegeneic) where we care for patients undergoing transplant, from induction therapy to completion as well as the regional centre for haemophilia. Here we also have some input into aftercare including psycho-social support provided by our multi-disciplinary team approach.

Ward 8 is based in Victoria Wing at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. To find us:
- Come through the main entrance of Victoria Wing entering Peacock Hall and follow the main corridor until you reach the League of Friends shop.
- Take the stairs opposite you on the right hand side.
- Turn right at the top of the stairs and Ward 8 is located on your right hand side.
- For individuals requiring a lift when you reach the crossroads turn left and you will find a lift halfway down the corridor on your right hand side.

If you have come through the Leazes Wing Main Entrance from Richardson Road then follow these directions to find us:
- Come through the Leazes Wing Main Entrance, walk past the reception desk and take a turn to your right when you reach the Café.
- Walk down this corridor until you reach a junction. The East Block Wing lifts and a staircase are available in front of you and you should take these down to the Ground Floor.
- Look for the sign directing you to take a left turn for Victoria Wing and follow the long corridor.
- Carry on along this corridor and you will reach a crossroads with the League of Friends shop on your left hand side.
- Turn right and walk along this corridor until your reach the glass lift and stairs on the left and go up to the first floor. Turn right and Ward 8 is on your left hand side.

If you have used our Multi Storey Car Park then follow these directions to find us:
- Leave the car park where there is a sign for the Main Corridor and turn left. You will find yourself in Claremont Wing.
- Follow the corridor until you come to a junction when you should turn right and follow the signs for Victoria Wing.
- Carry on along this main corridor through the MedicalSchool until you turn left and continue to follow the signs for Victoria Wing.
- You will soon find yourself in Leazes Wing but continue to follow the signs for Victoria Wing.
- Carry on along this corridor and you will reach a crossroads with the League of Friends shop on your left hand side.
- Turn right and walk along this corridor until your reach the glass lift and stairs on the left and go up to the first floor. Turn right and Ward 8 is on your left hand side.
Staff you are likely to meet
The clinical team on the inpatient facility includes, sister, senior nurses, staff nurses, health care assistants, domestics, ward clerks, social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and medical staff of all grades.
