Paul Carding is Professor of Voice Pathology in The Medical School at Newcastle University and Clinical Head of the Speech, Voice and Swallowing Department at Freeman University Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne. He is also is national clinical advisor to Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and voice consultant to The Royal Shakespeare Company. Paul is also national advisor to Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists with regards to research strategy and evidence based practice.
He has published extensively in many aspects of voice pathology including over 100 peer-reviewed articles and several books. Paul’s main research interests are concerned with voice pathology diagnosis and management, treatment effectiveness and outcome measurement. He holds a number of prestigious research grants including projects funded by The Welcomme Trust, MRC and Cancer UK.
Paul is a Course Director for the Masters Clinical Research Programme (Dysphonia and Dysphagia) at Newcastle University and is currently supervising 6 Ph.D students.
