    James O’Hara is the lead for the Northern Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team. He specialises in head and neck cancer, benign head and neck disease and throat / voice symptoms.  He has specialist surgical interests in robotic surgery for throat cancer and laser therapy for swallowing disorders. He has developed an urgent neck lump service, complimented by radiology-delivered ultrasound in clinic. He offers transnasal oesophagscopy in the outpatient clinic to investigate swallowing conditions.

    James O’Hara is a clinical researcher, and part of the ENT department’s team leading on several large UK wide clinical trials. These trials have covered throat symptoms, adult tonsillectomy, nasal septal surgery and treatment of radiation induced mouth symptoms, during head and neck cancer therapy. He has national roles in research and education including: associate editor for Clinical Otolaryngology, council member for the Rhinology and Laryngology section of the Royal Society of Medicine, and council member for the British Otolaryngology and Allied Sciences Research Society.
