About Us

Celebrating Excellence Awards

A real highlight of 2019 was hosting our first Celebrating Excellence Awards and sharing some of the exceptional work happening across Newcastle Hospitals.

So it gives us great pleasure to launch our 2020 Awards which, once again, provide us with the opportunity to show our appreciation for the fantastic work our staff do, day in and day out.

Whether it’s in our hospitals or the community, clinical areas or behind the scenes, your commitment, dedication, passion is what truly makes us ‘outstanding’.

We anticipate this is going to be a key event in the calendar and thanks to the generosity of our sponsors we’re holding a gala awards evening at the Civic Centre on Friday 26 June.

Almost a year to the day, we became the first NHS organisation to declare a ‘climate emergency’ so it seems only fitting we introduce ‘The Shine Award’ into our list of categories.

2020 is also special because it’s ‘International Year of the Nurse and Midwife’ and again we’ve reflected this important event into our awards line-up.

We are also celebrating some other milestones this year - our Great North Children’s Hospital is ten years old while Newcastle’s Dental School and Hospital marks its 125th anniversary.

All of these occasions allow us to reflect on the wonderful clinical advances and care provided across our services and fit in nicely with our FlourishAtNewcastleHospitals theme for June - #LetsCelebrate.

Everyone working in the Trust should be able to be nominated for at least one category in this year’s awards and, once again, we’re also giving people the opportunity to recognise the huge contribution of our volunteers and fundraisers.

We’re now inviting staff and patients to tell us who you think has gone above and beyond their role to make a real difference. Join us in saying thank you.

You can make a nomiantion for the awards online here: https://bit.ly/2Gdvn5Q or you will be able to pick up a paper nomination form from our main receptions in the coming weeks or you can download a form here.

Deadline for nominations is Friday 20 March 2020
