Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)

Freephone: 0800 0320202 / Text/sms: 0781 5500015

We're here to help when you need advice, want answers to questions, want to know who to talk to or find out how to get help.

As a patient, relative or carer sometimes you may need to ask someone for on-the-spot help, advice and support. This is where the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) comes in.

We provide confidential advice and support, helping you to sort out any concerns that you may have about any aspect of NHS care.

Help when you need advice

The service provides:

• advice and support to patients, their families and carers

• information on NHS services

• help to sort out problems quickly on your behalf and listens to your concerns, suggestions or queries.

We act independently when handling patient and family concerns, liaising with staff, managers and, where appropriate, relevant organisations, to negotiate prompt solutions. If necessary, we can also refer patients and families to specific local or national-based support agencies.

We are available Monday to Friday from 9:00am until 5:00pm. Outside of these hours you can leave a message on an answer-machine and you will be contacted the next working day.

The service can be contacted on:

Freephone: 0800 0320202
Text/sms: 0781 5500015

You can also write to us at our Freepost address.

Alternatively, you can ask a member of hospital staff to contact the PALS officer on your behalf.
