Caldicott Guardian RCSEdin. 33 papers published in peer reviewed journals and two book chapters. Biography
I completed my undergraduate and postgraduate training here in Newcastle and in the surrounding hospitals of the North East. In 2009 I was appointed to the position of Consultant Orthodontist.
As a product of the North East training in dentistry and orthodontics, I am very passionate about what the North East has to offer, and I am involved in the training of our dental undergraduates and orthodontic postgraduates in our region.
As a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, I examine for them both nationally and internationally.
I carry out regular diagnostic and treatment sessions at Newcastle Dental Hospital, with treatment focused on multidisciplinary orthodontic management

Biography
I qualified from Leeds in 1988 and then worked in Maxillofacial units and General Dental Practise gaining my Dental Fellowship in 1991. My Masters degree was gained in 1997 at Newcastle University along with my specialist training. My higher training was at Manchester Dental Hospital. I became an RVI Consultant in 2001 and Lead for CLP (Cleft Lip and Palate) for the Northern and Yorkshire region in 2002.
My clinical work is in the field of CLP as well as complex orthodontic conditions in children and adults, especially those that require additional input from other medical or dental specialities. Active treatment is carried out within Newcastle Dental Hospital, but I have clinics across the whole of the Northern region.
I am active in clinical and didactic teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates and have been responsible for running the MSc programme and supervising PhDs, particularly in the area of CLP. I am currently Training Programme Director for Orthodontics across the North of England. I lecture nationally on a range of subjects including CLP, communication skills and ethics.
I am actively involved in a number of multi-centre research trials, gaining international awards, in the field of growth and development of the jaws as well as CLP.
Nationally, I am active in the British Orthodontic Society and have served on many committees including the Consultants Orthodontic Group, Scholarships and Grants Committee and was until recently Director of the British Orthodontic Research Foundation. I am currently on the National Conference Organising Team.
Within the Trust I have held several management roles including: Chair of the Dental Directorate, Chair of the Dental Cross Infection Control Committee and Clinical Speciality Group Lead.

Biography
Professor Greenwood was appointed as a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in October 2003. He has developed undergraduate teaching in medicine in relation to dentistry as part of his academic role.
Since September 2013 he has been Co-Clinical Director (along with Dr Ben Cole) for the Dental Directorate with special responsibility for the Oral and Maxillofacial Sciences (oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery, oral medicine and oral radiology).

Biography

Biography
Following graduation from University of Glasgow 1998, entered into two year general professional training post. First year as Vocational Trainee in General Dental Practice, and the second as a Community Dental Officer in the Salaried Dental Service.
In 2000 returned to Glasgow Dental Hospital as a Senior House Officer before taking up a Specialist Registrar post in Birmingham Dental Hospital and School and Birmingham Children’s Hospital. After successful completion of the three years Specialist Registrar post and obtaining specialist qualification, I secured the two year FTTA “Senior” registrar post in Paediatric Dentistry, obtaining my Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Paediatric Dentistry in October 2006.
I took up post as Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry appointment in April 2007.

Biography
I am a clinical academic with key roles in delivering dental undergraduate training within Newcastle university. I am Director of Studies and degree programme director for Oral and Dental Health Sciences.
My clinical research interests focus on the rehabilitation of the edentulous (partial or complete tooth loss) patient, and my clinical practice reflects this area of interest.
As a past President of the British Prosthodontic Society, I am an advocate for this group of patients who often experience profound negative effects on their quality of life as a result of their tooth loss.
I also act as an external examiner for a number of other universities, currently including Glasgow and Manchester.

Biography
I have been a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry since 2009. However, I began my role here at Newcastle Dental Hospital in 2012. I completed my Specialist Training in Restorative Dentistry at Glasgow Dental Hospital and School 2004-2009. During this time, I was awarded an ITI Clinical Scholarship in Implant Dentistry and spent a year at the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA.
I enjoy teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, particularly those in specialty training. I am an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I have also had a number of committee roles for the European Association for Osseointegration.

Biography
I have been a consultant with particular expertise in all aspects of implant dentistry since 2000. The focus of our work is to improve the wellbeing of people who are significantly compromised by having missing teeth, often as a result of cancer, trauma or birth defects.
I am examiner for one of the Surgical Royal Colleges and am heavily involved with specialist training, which has involved undertaking a number of roles for the Northern Deanery who oversee specialist training. I am also Degree Programme Director for a University of Newcastle dental implant training course.

I am Professor of Endodontology at Newcastle University with an honorary NHS Consultant appointment in Restorative Dentistry. My clinical practice is limited almost exclusively to microscope-assisted endodontics. I am past-President of the British Endodontic Society and serve on the Executive Board/Chair the Education and Scholarship Committee of the European Society of Endodontology. For 10 years I was Assistant Editor/Deputy Editor in Chief of the International Endodontic Journal. I am an active teacher, clinician and researcher with numerous original peer-reviewed publications and contributions to internationally recognised textbooks.

Biography
I lead the Sedation Department in the Dental Hospital, providing a dedicated service for anxious patients who need pharmacological sedation to undergo dental care. The department treats both adults and children, using intravenous and inhalational methods of sedation.
I have been a consultant with the Trust for 17 years, with particular clinical and research expertise in benzodiazepine sedation. I am Chairman of the Trust Sedation Advisory Group and Degree Programme Director for the University Diploma in Sedation for Dentistry.
I deliver a sedation teaching programme for dental students and I am responsible for supporting hospital dentists in training, as Dental Clinical Tutor. I hold roles as Assessor, Examiner and Faculty Tutor for the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons. I have recently been a subject expert for NICE, helping to develop national guidelines for paediatric sedation.
