Patient quote

"Just a note to express how impressed my husband and I were with the service at the Dental Clinic.  We found all staff concerned, consultants, nursing staff, radiologists and receptionists pleasant and helpful despite working on a Saturday! Thank you so much" Mr & Mrs AS

Dental Emergency Clinic

A family dental visit

Due to the coronavirus outbreak the Dental Emergency Clinic no longer offers a ‘walk in’ service. Referrals to the clinic are available through General Dental Practitioners in the community, or if you do not have your own dentist, NHS 111. You will then have a telephone triage and an appointment given if this is appropriate. If you have an urgent dental problem please contact your own dentist by telephone in the first instance, or if you do not have a dentist, NHS 111.

Please be advised we are currently running a very limited service and may only be able to see very urgent cases.

Please see our Coronavirus statement for more information.

The emergency clinic is based at the Dental Hospital and is open Monday to Friday (apart from Bank Holidays) from 9.00am each morning.

Treatment on our department is provided only to the extent that is necessary to prevent significant deterioration in oral health or address the cause of severe pain.

Treatment offered is most likely to be extraction due to the risks of carrying out drilling during the coronavirus outbreak. Only in very rare cases will any type of filling be offered.

A full dental heath check will not be completed to address all oral health issues and so it is essential that you register with a general dental practitioner for ongoing maintenance check ups and care.
