Curettage - Minor Surgery

Your skin lesion has been removed with a curette. A small wound will remain which will take 2-3 weeks to heal over.

The wound should be cleaned daily with cooled, boiled water. Apply a thin smear of antiseptic ointment and a dry dressing.

It does not matter if the wound gets wet in the bath or shower just clean the wound as before and apply a fresh dressing.

If bleeding occurs, apply firm direct pressure for at least 20 minutes.

Once the wound has healed the scar may be red and raised, after several months it will settle down to be a more flesh coloured flat scar.
