Therapy Services

Community Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

The Community Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Outpatient Service is a community based service that provides treatment for people who suffer from joint, muscle and soft tissue problems in any part of their body.

The service is staffed by a team of Chartered Health Care Professions Council Physiotherapists who are committed to providing a high quality evidence based physiotherapy service tailored to individual needs.

Conditions we treat

We provide specialist treatments for a wide variety of conditions for example:

  • Knee pain
  • Spinal problems including the back and the neck
  • Arthritic joint pain
  • Persistent musculoskeletal pain
  • Shoulder or other joint pains

How we work

Physiotherapists work with individual patients to improve their strength, balance, mobility and overall fitness to  restore both normal movement and normal functional activity where possible.  The Physiotherapist will help each patient understand and manage their musculoskeletal condition.

As a provider of health care for local residents, physiotherapists liaise closely with community services and agencies to ensure patients receive ongoing care where required via schemes such as exercise on referral programs and weight management in order to provide a holistic, patient-centered treatment package for the patient.

The type and length of treatment will depend on the condition, but will follow best evidence based practice and will include advice and education as well as treatments including exercise therapy, manual therapy, acupuncture or pain relieving injections.
